W. L. Weller Special Reserve
Intro: from Buffalo Trace:
The Original Wheated Bourbon Whiskey features an exceptionally smooth taste, substituting wheat for rye grain. Bottled at 90 proof, this bourbon stands out with its burnt orange color. Its softer flavor notes make this bourbon great for sipping or making cocktails.
Review:
I’m on the road for work, at a bar, and I see their bourbon, Weller sticks out...must have Weller! I ordered a double...neat...like a man. On the nose it has amazing sweet smells, you know, of bourbon that is made from wheat vice rye...very smooth smelling at 90 proof, no fumes or burn. On the lips no burn, and in the mouth a slight ting on the tongue, just enough to tell you it’s bourbon. It’s immediately sweet tasting with vanilla...I guess...shit I don’t know...who the hell goes around tasting vanilla enough to pick that out of alcohol? Let’s just say is very balanced in flavor between the woody flavors and sweet flavors common to all bourbons. This bourbon among the weller family bourbons and wheated bourbons, is solid. It is most definitely a daily drinker!
Is it worth $?
At $20 roughly per 750ml you bet your sweet ass this is worth every penny! Hell if you don’t enjoy it and want it to go away, send me a comment and you can send it my way! Of course, there’s the case of this stuff I have in the basement I might need help hiding from the wife if I get more...
