Yellowstone Select

Intro:

A masterful fusion of flavors from seventh-generation distillers, Paul and Steve Beam. It features a hand-picked blend of sweet, spicy, and smoky bourbons, each selected to give this exclusive whiskey a taste that celebrates its deep, family origins.

Review:

Nose - The website said I should pick up some rye spices and leathered cherries...what the hell are leathered cherries!?  That being said, lets dive in!  First snort had some fume to it...an eye clinch at most.  Definitely no teeth or fist clinch.  Round 2....second attempt was very rewarding.  A nice easy going tone to the aroma compliment.  The rye spice I can agree with....not really any notes of hotter spices but maybe some light butterscotch and vanilla.

Rub - No fumes and almost a piney aroma out of the gates on this one.  Like always, there is the yeast aroma.  Maybe a very subtle bit of the oak or barn type smell.

Taste -  So far, this bourbon is doing it for me.  Hopefully this isn't like the 'Suck Cut' from Wayne's World....seems awesome from the introduction, but "certainly does suck!"  Here we go....from the lips to initial sip, no heat and kind of a dull flavor.  After holding it for about 5 seconds, both the heat and flavor profile came to life.  On the front to the middle of the tongue, I get the sweet candy-like flavoring....I can agree with the website again with the smoked caramel but the vanilla sticks out too.  All the spice migrates to the back.  It has a spicy black pepper flavor and that is the finish you get....though smooth and non-offensive.  Not bad....not bad at all!

Is it worth the $?

I have zero recollection of where I got this or how much I paid.  MSRP from the ole Google box says $48 and I could see myself doing that price again to keep a bottle in stock.
